The South Australian Tourism Commission is crossing the Tasman, hosting the first South Australia Roadshow in New Zealand since 2017 in response to increased demand from the Kiwi market, buoyed by a coming increase in air capacity.
SATC’s regional manager for New Zealand Stacey Kerr says New Zealand is now the state’s second largest international source market, with both stay and spend rising too, up 41% and 42% compared to 2024. “These figures reflect what we’re seeing and hearing on the ground too, that Kiwis are making the most of their time in South Australia and visiting multiple regions during their trip, making it a great opportunity for agents to capitalise on that interest,” says Kerr. The roadshow’s return also coincides with some significant rises in airlift to Adelaide, with Qantas to operate a new seasonal service ex Auckland from 31 Oct and Air New Zealand’s new seasonal service ex Christchurch 27 Oct. “We have roughly 45,000 additional seats to fill, so it has never been a better time to upskill on Adelaide and South Australia,” says Kerr.

Kerr says there will be a wide range of commissionable product on show at the events covering much of the state. “We’ve had a huge response from our operators too, many who are seeing growth in Kiwi visitation already and who want to take advantage of the momentum in the market,” she adds. Agents will also have a chance to win a trip for two to South Australia, as well as spot prizes on the night. The event will be open to clients in select cities; at the end of the Hamilton and Auckland trade events the doors will open up to the public, says Kerr. “We encourage agents to invite their clients to join from 1700 in these locations, enjoy a local South Australian wine before wandering the room and introducing them to their next potential holiday destination.” The events are 18-20 Aug in Christchurch, Hamilton and Auckland.
