South Australia is inviting Kiwis to cross the Tasman this winter, not to warm up, but to experience its array of world class events taking place over the season.
Season highlights, says the South Australian Tourism Commission, include red wine festival Winter Reds, on 25-27 Jul. Held in the Adeliade Hills, the food and wine festival features more than 50 events across venues and cellar doors, including a pinot in the dark experience, tasting tables and more. See HERE. The Adelaide Cabaret Festival marks its 25th year and is on 05-21 Jun. Highlights of this event, known as the largest cabaret festival in the world, include a program of classic and contemporary cabaret performances, some of which are free to attend. See HERE.
Another food and wine-focused event is Gutsy KI (06-09 Jun) which celebrates the food and wine of Kangaroo Island. SATC says attendees can expect cosy fires and live music, as well as unforgettable food and drink experiences. See HERE. Rounding out the list is an option for nature lovers, the Winter Whale Fest, which runs 01-30 Jun in Victor Harbor. Celebrating the annual whale migration to the Fleurieu Peninsula, the festival features a wide array of events, including the Whale Art Trail self-guided tour and a special screening of David Attenborough documentary Ocean.
