For a quick recap, The Brit Awards was hosted in the city for the first time this year—testament to its rising status in the UK, and it also sports a solid calendar of concerts, as well as the Parklife Festival in Jun. Castlefield Viaduct’s ‘sky park’, a Victorian-era former railway via duct transformed into a garden, is expanding and Albert Square, one of the city’s largest squares, will re-open after six years.

After a significant re-imagining, the Power Hall at the Science and Industry Museum has reopened with the UK’s largest collection of working steam engines and Salford will soon welcome Salford Rise, a five-acre elevated pedestrian and cycle route.

Foodie experts, Scranchester, have launched a new Chinatown tour while rooftop Chotto Matte has opened as the largest restaurant in Manchester. Tangarine, a new independent food hall has opened under the archways of Salford Central Station and in St Johns Campfield Market has 50 artisan shops, a European-inspired food hall, and a local produce market across the three buildings.

On the sporting front, as well as the Manchester City and Manchester United football teams, this year the city will host five Women’s Cricket World Cup matches. The Manchester City Football Club is also set to open a new hotel and entertainment destination The Medlock, at the Etihad Campus mid-2026.
