When it comes to things to do in Los Angeles, there’s no shortage of options, but for Kiwis looking to get a little off the beaten track, LA Tourism’s chief marketing officer Eileen Hanson has shared her favourite ‘hidden gems’.

Kicking off the list is Point Vicente Interpretive Center, described as part Museum, part park, and part lighthouse overlook. Hanson says Point Vicente is a place to slow down and reconnect with nature, with its cliffs offering uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.
For history buffs and architecture lovers, the art-deco Los Angeles Central Library is said to be a must. Free docent tours of the building and its art are given every day the library is open, and on Sat there is a tour of the Maguire Gardens which surround the library.
Another ‘architectural treasure’ is Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House, the only UNESCO World Heritage site in Los Angeles.
Also on Hanson’s list is Larchmont Village. Urge clients to grab a coffee from Get ‘Em Tiger and then explore the neighbourhood’s tree lined boulevards and boutiques.
. . . Dining
On the dining front, for something on the higher end Hanson recommends Osteria Mozza which she calls a quintessential Los Angeles dining experience. Recommend clients get a seat at the Mozzarella Bar where they can watch the chefs at work.
She also highlights vintage diner Horseless Carriage, which is located inside a Ford dealership and serves a ‘surprisingly delicious’ breakfast or lunch. See more on what to do in Los Angeles, see HERE.
