More and more Kiwis are heading overseas alone, with one operator reporting a real shift in local attitude post-pandemic with more Kiwis embracing the ‘just go for it’ mindset.
Wendy Wu Tours solo bookings are up by more than 25% on the 2024, year-to-date, in both passenger numbers and revenue. Behind this rise is not just more single people travelling, but also more Kiwis leaving partners at home to take the trip they want to do, or in some cases, to meet up with friends made on previous tours done as a couple. Local Wendy Wu Tours md Paul Dymond told Travel Today that many people who were hesitating have now decided to ‘just take the plunge’, and he adds that more often than not, they’re amazed by how quickly they bond with others on the tour. “Those friendships often last well beyond the trip, which is always lovely to hear.”
. . . Solo Moves
As such, Dymond says the operator is committed to making solo travel as affordable, easy, and enjoyable as possible. Wendy Wu has an ‘ever-growing’ range of dedicated solo departures on some of its most popular tours, as well as flexible options across other tours including guaranteed solo rooms or ‘happy to share’ roomshare options (the latter helping travellers avoid the single supplement). Complimentary airport transfers, a lounge pass, and a welcome cocktail are included for solo travellers to help them settle in, and there’s also solo savings offers.
. . . 50% Off Deal
Wendy Wu currently has 50% off its single supplements for bookings to 16 May, for select departures in 2025 and 2026.
