More and more Kiwis are heading overseas alone, with one operator reporting a real shift in local attitude post-pandemic with more Kiwis embracing the ‘just go for it’ mindset.

Behind this rise is not just more single people travelling, but also more Kiwis leaving partners at home to take the trip they want to do, or in some cases, to meet up with friends made on previous tours done as a couple. Local Wendy Wu Tours md Paul Dymond told Travel Today that many people who were hesitating have now decided to ‘just take the plunge’, and he adds that more often than not, they’re amazed by how quickly they bond with others on the tour. “Those friendships often last well beyond the trip, which is always lovely to hear.”

As such, Dymond says the operator is committed to making solo travel as affordable, easy, and enjoyable as possible.
