Visiting Dubai During Ramadan

Ramadan, the time when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, is this year on through to 30 Mar, and during the Holy Month cities like Dubai offer a range of additional activities.

While it is important to be mindful not to eat and drink in front of those who are fasting, clients won’t starve; restaurants and dining areas within the city are still open during fasting hours.

Travellers should also try to be especially considerate and respectful during Ramadan, and both men and women should dress modestly and cover their shoulders and knees in loose-fitting clothing, advises Dubai Tourism. Dubai shops remain open and mall hours are extended to past midnight. And visitors can still visit local sights and attractions. Suggested places to visit include Ramadan Souq, Ramadan District; Ramadan Wonders at Global Village; Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU); and Dubai’s iconic Jumeirah Mosque.

After Ramadan is Eid Al Fitr, and Dubai comes alive with celebrations, exciting activities, traditional dance performances, live music and shows in the major public spaces across the city.
