Orbit Unveils Its Unification Plans

Orbit World Travel is unifying, and on the lookout for a new ceo, a move owner-operator Marc Bartram says is a logical step, and one that will allow the New Zealand-owned TMC to strengthen its national capability.

Mark Bartram

Orbit’s TMC’s four independently owned offices, located across Auckland, Hamilton/ Tauranga, Nelson/Dunedin and Christchurch, will move to a unified national operating model.

By aligning nationally, Bartram says Orbit stops splitting its energy across different structures and starts acting as one.

“It removes complexity and lets us focus our talents and resources at scale, and it puts us in a stronger position to shape the business for long term growth.”

Among the benefits are simplified supplier engagement, clearer national career pathways and stronger support, training and tools. The local leadership will remain, including Bartram as well as Craig Jenkinson, Brendan Drury, Jason McKay and Kate Rawnsley.

. . . New Board

The unification, which will be rolled out progressively over the coming months, includes a new board, chaired by Shane Edmond, who spent 20 years at Forsyth Barr. Joining Edmond is House of Travel ceo David Coombes, former director of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Fiona Fountaine, and Nick Judd, who is now cfo at One New Zealand. Bartram is also on the board, charged with representing the owner-operator executive shareholders, and that search is on for a ceo to lead Orbit World Travel. See more details HERE.
