Travel Nevada is highlighting experiences it says can only be found in the Silver State—and which offer Kiwi travellers ‘a fresh way to get a little out there’.

That includes kayaking in the desert, and there’s multiple options such as Hoover Dam Rafting Adventures (family-friendly tours down the Colorado River) and Clearly Tahoe Kayak Tours (kayaking in transparent vessels).
Clients can also explore museums, with the more unusual options including The Neon Museum, The Mob Museum, National Atomic Testing Museum, and the Pinball Hall of Fame. Nevada is also home to some unique art experiences, including Goldwell Open Air Museum, International Car Forest of the Last Church, Seven Magic Mountains, and the Reno Playa Art Trail.
Stargazing is another recommendation, with Travel Nevada recommending The Black Rock Desert and Massacre Rim International Dark Sky Sanctuary. Nevada’s Lunar Crater also makes the list, with the natural volcanic maar resembling lunar terrain offering ‘an other worldly geological experience’.
For history lovers, suggest a drink in at one of the historic Sagebrush Saloons scattered throughout the state, some of which date back to the 1800s. Rounding out the list is exploring Great Basin National Park, (pictured), which Travel Nevada says is the state’s ‘best kept secret’.
. . . Stay
For unique accommodation options, Virginia City’s Gold Hill Hotel is one of Nevada’s oldest hotels, while the Silver Queen Hotel and Saloon doubles as a vintage wedding chapel.
The Clown Motel in Tonopah has a collection of more than 2000 clown figurines, and at Ruby 360 Lodge, clients can sleep in a backcountry yurt. See more HERE.
