American Airlines and Miami Dade County have unveiled a USD1 billion expansion of Concourse D at Miami International Airport.

Scheduled to break ground in 2027, the new Gate D60 project will deliver 17 gates built for larger modern aircraft, eliminate outside boardings and include adjoining boarding spaces.
It will accommodate international arrivals and direct third-floor access to the MIA customs hall, as well as featuring new dining and shopping options. AA will also open a new Flagship lounge and expand its Admirals Club facilities at the airport.
AA ceo Robert Isom says Miami is an essential hub and international gateway for the airline. “The brand-new, reimagined D60 is a transformational project that will provide a much-improved experience for our customers and our team. This investment, alongside new premium lounges and new routes, reflects our shared commitment with Miami-Dade County and the airport to ensure Miami remains the pre-eminent US gateway to Latin America.”
AA plans to run its largest summer schedule ever this year, operating more than 380 peak daily flights from MIA to 155 destinations across 45 countries.
