Jim Berra, Princess Cruises’ chief commercial officer, says that with Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess homeporting in Tokyo for the first time, the ships will have late night stays timed to Japan’s most celebrated summer festivals.

There will also be sailings that visit the four main islands during cherry blossom and fall foliage seasons with the cruise line delivering ‘unprecedented access’ to the culture, cuisine and traditions that define Japan.

The 2028 Japan season features 85 departures across 52 itineraries, ranging from seven to 29 days.

Highlights include voyages exploring Japan’s four main islands, late night stays in Aomori, Hakodate, Hiroshima, Kochi, Osaka and Tokushima, and a series of signature 29-day Grand Circle Japan voyages, including fall foliage sailings.

There are also departures timed to coincide with seasonal events and festivals, including the Aomori Nebuta Festival and Kumano Fireworks Festival, and Japanese experiences on board and ashore, ranging from traditional tea ceremonies to Kabuki performances.

. . . Asia

The Southeast Asia program includes nine itineraries of up to 28 days, with roundtrip Singapore sailings and Japan–Singapore repositioning cruises available.

Highlights include visits to 29 destinations across nine countries, with an overnight stay in Laem Chabang and late-night calls in Hong Kong and Osaka, as well as cultural experiences such as Mekong Delta sampan rides and cooking classes in Thailand and Vietnam.

The 2027/28 Japan & Southeast Asia voyages have up to AUD1200 off per stateroom and a free stateroom location upgrade for those who book by 31 May. A further AUD300 is available to Captain’s Circle members. See details HERE.
