Getting to and from Auckland Airport is set to get easier, following the launch of The Auckland Deal, an initiative from the airport, Auckland Council and central government which will see the group align on priorities for the city.
Highlights include a plan to improve surface access to the airport precinct, with initial infrastructure priorities around the northern and southeastern access points to the airport, as well as delivery of Auckland’s Rapid Transit Network, including a Botany-to Airport connection.
“This coordination is essential for us to deliver outcomes that work for travellers, workers and freight operators,” says AKL chief executive Carrie Hurihanganui.
The launch of the deal coincides with AKL’s current upgrade, with Hurihanganui saying it provides the planning certainty and connectivity framework that will help ensure Auckland fully realises the benefits of that investment for generations to come.
