Disney Cruise Line’s inaugural season in Asia will set sail next week, after Disney Adventure arrived in Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre, marking what the cruise line says is a ‘new chapter’ for cruise in the region.
The ship will homeport in Singapore and sail a series of three- and four-night voyages from 10 Mar, the first of a five-year homeporting commitment.
Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences says Disney Adventure’s arrival in Singapore marks a significant milestone in the cruise line’s global expansion, introducing Disney cruising to Asia for the first time.
“Honouring Disney Cruise Line’s legacy of unforgettable journeys, our newest ship brings together our signature storytelling and creativity in an exciting new destination.”
Singapore Tourism Board’s ceo Melissa Ow says the cruise line’s decision to homeport its newest ship in Singapore is testament to the city’s appeal as a premier cruise destination.
“Singapore’s repertoire of compelling onshore tourism experiences is a fitting complement to the Disney Adventure’s unique entertainment-led vacation at sea,” she adds.
Last year, the city-state welcomed 375 ship calls and more than two million passengers.
Disney Adventure expected to capture a ‘significant share’ of the region’s rapidly expanding cruise audience.
Highlights of the ship include seven different themed areas, a wide array of dining options, several retail experiences and all-new musical spectacular Remember, developed exclusively for Disney Adventure.
