Celebrity River Cruises has opened its 2028 season for bookings and has also revealed plans to double its fleet to 20 vessels by 2031.
The expansion, it says, will make Celebrity River Cruises one of the largest European river cruise operators and follows demand that chairman and ceo of Royal Caribbean Group Jason Liberty says has exceeded expectations.
“With Celebrity’s expansion into river, we’re strengthening our connected holiday ecosystem, offering more choice, more access, and more reasons for guests to stay with us, turning the holiday of a lifetime into a lifetime of holidays.”
The news marks the start of construction, with the first steel cut for Celebrity Compass, the line’s debut river ship.

Celebrity River Cruises’ now-open 2028 season features more than 160 sailings to 50-plus destinations across Europe, an 80% increase in European destinations compared to its inaugural 2027 deployment.
Cruises will be aboard Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker, as well as new ships Celebrity Wanderer, Celebrity Roamer, and Celebrity Boundless which join the fleet in 2028.

Agents are urged to book sooner rather than later, as Celebrity Cruises president Laura Hodges Bethge reports that the inaugural 2027 Celebrity River Cruises season sold out in under six minutes.
Highlighted itineraries include the six Lower Danube cruises ex Bucharest and more than 60 Rhine River cruises between Basel and Amsterdam, as well as Upper Danube cruises between Regensburg or Nuremberg and Budapest, Dutch Tulip Season cruises between Brussels and Amsterdam and Christmas market cruises.
