The Viking Ptah is named after Egypt’s creator god and patron deity of craftsmen and architects, while the Viking Sekhmet is named for his wife, who the cruise line says has a fierce reputation but is nevertheless noted for protection and is the patron of physicians.

. . . Itineraries

The Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary starts with three nights at a first-class hotel in Cairo, with visits to sites such as the Great Pyramids of Giza, the necropolis of Sakkara, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali or the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Guests then fly to Luxor accompanied by a Viking Egyptologist to visit the Temples of Luxor and Karnak and begin an eight-day roundtrip voyage on the Nile River.

Included are Tutankhamen’s tomb, Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Khnum in Esna, the Dendera Temple complex in Qena, the temples at Abu Simbel and the High Dam in Aswan.

There is also the chance to visit a Nubian village, before flying back to Cairo. Viking’s Nile fleet also includes Viking Osiris, Viking Aton, Viking Sobek, Viking Hathor, Viking Amun and Viking Thoth. See more HERE.
