Air New Zealand is increasing capacity on its flights across New Zealand and improving flight times, as part of a wider refresh of its domestic network that gm short haul and domestic Lucy Hall says ensures NZ is offering the best possible schedule and capacity for travellers.
“These updates are all about keeping New Zealanders connected, supporting regional growth, and making it easier for people to travel for work, to visit loved ones, or to explore more of Aotearoa,” she adds.

Seat capacity between Auckland and Queenstown will grow by 9%, as the airline adds more flights to meet demand. Hamilton-Christchurch jet services will operate daily from 09 Feb, increasing capacity by 17%. Additional growth is planned on services ex Christchurch to Napier, Nelson, Rotorua, Tauranga and Invercargill. Blenheim capacity will increase 7%, and the carrier will operate an ATR on its services between AKL and Rotorua, adding 7% more seats. NZ is also re-timing select ROT flights in response to feedback from the Rotorua community that better flight times for business travel were a priority. “Rotorua is an important part of our domestic network, and we’re proud to offer a schedule that reflects the community’s needs,” says Hall.
ROT-AKL weekday flights will depart at 0650 with AKL-ROT departing at 1620, while WLG-ROT will depart at 0645 and ROT-WLG at 1800. The updated schedule is now available to book for flights Mar-Oct 2026. See HERE.
