Exploring The Home Of The Beluga

The small town of Churchill on the shores of Hudson Bay in Manitoba is the gateway to the Arctic region and is now base to two expeditions ships Jul-Aug.

Already renowned for polar bear sightings in Sep-Oct particularly, Churchill will become even more accessible with the start of the expedition cruise sailings.

Silversea’s Silver Endeavour has two back-to-back sailings with embarkation and debarkation 25 Jul in Churchill. The cruise line is offering a Reykjavík to Churchill sailing 09-25 Jul, and a Churchill to Nuuk (Godthåb) sailing 25 Jul-09 Aug also with shore excursions included. Hapag Lloyd’s Hanseatic Nature will dock there for five nights 09-13 Aug with both embarkation and debarkation on 11 Aug for back-to-back sailings between Churchill and Greenland.

See more on Churchill HERE and expedition cruising with Hanseatic Nature HERE and Silver Endeavour HERE and HERE.

Guests of both vessels have the chance to take guided tours that highlight the area’s history, wildlife, and environment, including the white beluga whale (pictured); exploring the vast tundra, home to wildlife including arctic foxes and migratory birds and polar bears; learn about the local indigenous cultures and engage with those communities; and view the Northern Lights.
