Topdeck Travel has introduced what is says is an industry-leading inclusivity policy, adding a non-binary option in the booking process and a mixed-room product that supports the LGBTQIA+ community and gender identity.
During the booking process, travellers can now select the non-binary ‘X’ as their passport gender and all travellers, regardless of gender, can feel free to self-identify or share any relevant information to assist customer service teams in creating an inclusive and supportive environment on their trips, and promote equality and respect through the entire customer journey. Manager APAC Anna Fawcett says the first-of-its-kind inclusivity policy is the culmination of months of consultation and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders aimed at making [Topdeck] more welcoming and inclusive to LGBTQIA+ travellers. “Topdeck has always been an inclusive brand that encourages Topdeckers to ‘feel real’ and bring their authentic selves on board when they travel with us,” she says.
The inclusive accommodation types are across all four trip styles, moving beyond binary male or female gender allocations to offer a mixed-room option that allows Topdeckers to share their space, regardless of gender or identity.
Australian LGBTQIA+ youth organisation Minus18 facilitated training and education for all Topdeck staff and crew, ensuring teams in the office and on the road are fully versed in the new policy, stance and terminology, allowing travellers to feel welcomed at every touchpoint.
