Kiwi SIN Visits Up, Agents A Factor

New Zealand may not be the Singapore’s biggest market for arrivals, in fact we’re its 17th, but figures show its one of the fastest growing.

Kiwi arrivals to Singapore last year reached an historical high, with 157,500 visits, up 13.9% on 2023, says the Singapore Tourism Board.

Kimberly Spykerman, the STB’s area director Oceania, says Kiwis have been coming to Singapore for many years, and their reasons have been incredibly varied. “However the ones that continue to top everyone’s list include the ease of getting around the city quickly and conveniently, and the variety of destination experiences on offer.”

. . . Agents’ Role

Agents have played a role in its New Zealand sales growth, she adds. “In particular, we’re confident that their efforts in promoting the stayover packages developed last year helped contribute to more Kiwis tagging on a Singapore stayover holiday pre, or post, their final holiday destination. This applies especially for the many Kiwi cruise visitors who book cruises into or out of Singapore.” And with further Kiwi market growth targeted this year the STB is committed to continue working with agents.

“With Singapore being such a dynamic destination, we know it’s important for travel agents to be across the latest destination offerings, and will be conducting more face-to-face training including lunch and learn opportunities to provide them with updates on Singapore,” says Spykerman.

There are also training modules via Singapore Airlines’ Agent360 platform that will help Kiwi travel agents in promoting Singapore. The STB will host multiple campaigns this year to drive more mono and stayover packages, she adds.

. . . Global

Total international visitor arrivals to Singapore were up 21% in 2024, year-on-year, to 16.5 million. The STB tips tourism receipts are likely to reach the upper bound of its 2024 forecast, setting a record in tourism spend. STB expects 2025 international visitor arrivals to reach between 17 and 18.5 million.
