Canal cruises, European sojourns in Portugal and tech-free holidays in the Amazon are set to be in
demand this year tips Virtuoso’s 2025 Luxe Report, which sees the luxury network detail the most in-demand travel experiences for the year.
Starting with destinations Virtuoso says Slovenia is an adventure lover’s playground, citing Soca River and Lake Bled as well as the slopes at Krvavec and Vogel.
The Amazon is listed as the go to place for those looking to ditch the digital world and reconnect with nature while Portugal is trending as an alternative to overcrowded, pricier European hot spots.
Polar trips with a focus on wildlife conservation are also trending— think polar bears in South Georgia and narwhals in Canada—as are canal cruises through Europe.
At the same time Mongolia is also tipped to be popular, specifically stays in a Mongolian yurt. Virtuoso says digital nomads can experience the traditional nomadic lifestyle in these yurts, an authentic way to interact with local traditions, appreciate the beauty of the vast steppe and get closer to nature without giving up comfort.
Also trending in the luxury sector are circumnavigations, whether by private jet for those who want speed, flexibility and exclusivity, or via cruises for a more leisurely, in-depth experience.
. . . Pets?
Among the more unique trends was first class holidays for pets, with Virtuoso noting many high-end
airlines and hotels are rolling out exclusive animal amenities and even business or first-class travel options.
. . . Planning
Virtuoso’s report also delved into planning trends, predicting a rise in itineraries which simultaneously make the most of a destination without over-scheduling every moment. For this, it highlights the importance of working with a travel agent who, it quips, are skilled in creating the perfect balance.
