Netflix reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has taken off, offering an insight into what life is like for Utah’s members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Anyone who is familiar with the hit show will know the Mormon penchant for a dirty soda (given they can’t drink alcohol or coffee) made with heavy creams, syrups, juices and more. For clients who want to get a taste of this, The Utah Office of Tourism is highlighting the top five places in the state for a dirty soda.
- The first spot is the OG soda shop in Utah, Swig, which offers drive through sodas. The go-to drink here is The Founder, created with Diet Coke, sugar free coconut, fresh lime and coconut cream.
- Stop two is Sodalicious, another one of the original dirty soda shops, known for its witty naming conventions, with sodas like 2nd Wife and Holy Water. The must try here is Ging and Juice, using ginger ale, coconut and pineapple.
- Next on the list is FiiZ Drinks, where clients will find sodas as well as sweet and savory snack items such as churro bites and cookie dough bites. The highlighted drink here is the Fireplace, made with root beer, cinnamon, maraschino cherry and cream.
- Stop four is Thirst Drinks, although this will likely be the first stop for Kiwis flying into Utah, with it opening soon at Salt Lake International Airport. Try its freshly-fried beignets and Dr. McCreamy, which mixes Dr. Pepper, raspberry puree and coconut cream. Rounding out the list is Quench It!, which is famous for its sodas as well as its gourmet cookies. Order the Pep in Your Step, a concoction of Pepsi, pomegranate and lime.
Utah is home to a large population of the Church of Latter Day Saints.
