Trade Trio’s Regional Roadshow Success

Wendy Wu Tours, Viking, and Journey Beyond say they are amazed at the outstanding attendance levels at their agent and consumer roadshow events around the country—which the trio is attributing largely to travel agents.

Each function includes an update from Steve Parker from Viking, Wendy Wu Tours’ Paul Dymond and Thomas Gentz from Journey Beyond—with more 100 people in Invercargill, more than 136 people in Dunedin and 140 people attending in Nelson. “We couldn’t have had the success we have had without the trade embracing the events and seeing it as a great opportunity to get out in their communities, raise their profiles as well us upskilling and hosting their clients to a few drinks and nibbles,” says Dymond. “Most [attending] are saying they don’t get many big events like this in the regions, and the fact that there are three complementary but different products on show, make the sessions very informative.”

. . . Trends

In terms of what’s proving popular, Wendy Wu Tours’ Japan product is said to be attracting huge interest, as is its Wonders of Indonesia itinerary. For Journey Beyond The Ghan train is as popular as ever, especially packages that include Uluru and the Red Centre. Viking reports great interest in its expedition voyages, especially Antarctica. “All three of us have already seen great enquires and bookings coming from the trade that have attended the events,” says Dymond.
