Tourism Fiji On First Hand Experience

Tourism Fiji says it’s committed to ensuring it is getting New Zealand travel agents to Fiji to experience Fiji first-hand, and to have a chance to meet with its tourism partners.

More than 40 agents attended its Matai Agent Showcase recently, and undertook famils in the Yasawa Islands, the Mamanuca Islands or the Coral Coast and Pacific Harbour. “Obviously those big resorts in Denarau and on the mainland still play a key role, but we really want to make sure agents have the tools to sell Mamanucas, Yasawa Islands and different regions of Fiji,” says Tourism Fiji’s Tom Svenson.

This year, 43 Kiwi agents attended the showcase. “…that’s more than the Australian contingency, and these agents had the chance to meet one-on-one with 47 Fijian industry members,” adds Svenson.

. . . There’s More

This is just the start of a big year for Tourism Fiji in the Kiwi market.

Svensen says work is underway to re-launch the Matai agent training program website for Kiwi agents in the next couple of months.

In addition co-op campaigns will take place with a number of trade partners this year, and another round of famils will take place in early Nov, he adds. Tourism Fiji will also host a roadshow in Auckland on 14 Aug, with further details on the full-day event to come.
