Two famils, agent-focused events and a roadshow are on the agenda for Tahiti Tourisme, as it looks to better support agents who it says drive the majority of its business from this market.
The Kiwi trade accounts for an estimated 65% of Kiwi travel to the destination and Tahiti Tourisme regional director Caroline Brunel says agents are ‘absolutely a key segment’ for the NTO. “The Islands of Tahiti offer a lot of diversity, and agents are essential in helping clients navigate the options and tailor the perfect itinerary.” Stats NZ data for Apr shows that for the year so far, Kiwi numbers are up 5.8% on 2024, with 8915 Kiwis having returned from a holiday in the Tahitian islands. Brunel says this is encouraging given the competitive Pacific landscape. “It shows that The Islands of Tahiti continue to resonate with New Zealand travellers who are seeking something a little more special.” The NTO is looking to work with the Kiwi trade to further drive growth. Earlier this year Tahiti Tourisme appointed a dedicated trade manager, Auckland-based Bianca Henry, to support agents with destination training, updates, and tailored meetings. Brunel adds that the destination offers far more than most people realise. “Whether your clients are after cultural immersion, soft adventure, romance, or relaxation, The Islands of Tahiti can deliver a tailor-made holiday that feels anything but off-the-shelf.” The Tahiti Specialist Program, says Brunel, offers agents the tools and knowledge to confidently sell the destination along with a chance to qualify for famils—including two upcoming trips. . . . Chef’s Kiss?
Tahiti Tourisme is also in the process of launching an ‘exciting collaboration’ with a New Zealand-based chef to spotlight the destination’s gastronomy which will include agent-focused events as part of the Treasures of the South Pacific Roadshow in Sep.
