World Travellers’ Canterbury showcase continues to gain traction, with the latest event attracting 2000 attendees.
Hosted by World Travellers Riccarton, Rolleston, and Merivale the brand says Sun’s turnout surpassed all previous records and invigorated the local travel community—in fact there were 300 attendees in the first 20 minutes. Sue Robinson, owner of the Rolleston and Merivale stores, says seeing people planning for 2026 and 2027 shows that the future is bright for outbound travel. “We are so grateful to the support of our suppliers—all of whom ran out of some or all brochures; it was a true sign of a successful day showcasing travel to the people of Canterbury.”
. . . Trends
Suppliers at the event reported a number of trends, adds World Travellers. Bronwyn Towersey from Cruise World noted a significant focus on niche and boutique offerings, with a strong desire for high-quality travel experiences, says World Travellers. While TTC’s Mark Richardson said plenty of people are still planning to book travel in 2025 and exploring options for 2026, with many attendees looking to add a river cruise to their plans. And the event organisers are already planning next year’s event with Tiffany McCrea- Lennon owner of World Travellers Riccarton asserting that the stores hope to ‘deliver on double the attendance for next year’.
