Destination DC’s 2025 recent Special Agent Academy famil to the region offered agents, including TMG’s Alison Sharp, the chance to experience the destination first-hand.
Highlights of the six-night trip included visits to The People’s House: A White House Experience, a behind-the-scenes look at the White House, and the new Go-Go Museum & Café in Anacostia, as well as some of DC’s many museums. Sharp says visitors underestimate how long they need at the museums. “They’re so big you can’t do them justice when you’re rushing through. It’s really important to plan your time in the city, as a lot of places require you to pre-book a time for entry.” The agents explored DC’s neighbourhoods on foot, which Sharp highly recommends doing. “The Mall is the heart of the city, but the neighbourhoods are the soul,” she adds. “You see DC from a local perspective, so it’s certainly worth adding on extra time to explore them.” Local Destination DC representative Corey Marshall says having agents experience a destination firsthand is key to turning product knowledge into compelling, personalised recommendations. “Experiencing it in person is the best way to understand how much more DC offers beyond the National Mall,” says Marshall. “These kinds of experiences turn agents into passionate advocates.”
