Queensland is still welcoming visitors post-Cyclone Alfred, and will be open for business this Easter Holiday season ‘everywhere from the state’s southeast to the tropical north and the outback’, says Tourism & Events Queensland.
The ex-tropical cyclone hit Southeast Queensland at the weekend, and while the photos on-line may have clients concerned, TEQ says the state’s tourism operators are experienced in managing weather events.
The region is on track to welcome holidaymakers, especially for the upcoming Easter holidays; however agents are recommended to keep in touch with any accommodations or activities booked. The majority of beaches across the state are unaffected by recent weather, however, as many may have seen on social media, there is some significant short-term beach erosion across the Gold Coast, with beaches temporarily closed for public safety.
This won’t be for long though, says TEQ, with the Queensland government and councils working to replenish these beaches as quickly as possible. Again, it reiterates that the majority of beaches across the big state are unaffected by the recent weather event.
“Whilst ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has impacted Southeast Queensland, the rest of the state remains open and ready for exploration,” states the STO.
North of Fraser Coast, for example, is unaffected.
. . . Already There?
For clients who are still in Southeast Queensland TEQ says it is important that they stay informed, keeping an eye on official updates, follow safety advice and keep in contact with accommodation and/or tour providers.
