Oceania Cruises is reinforcing its reputation as the foodies cruise line with immersive tours this year.
Agents recently aboard the 30,000- tonne Regatta for lunch in Auckland learned of 12 immersive new Culinary Discovery Tours planned for this year.
These chef-led tours span the globe from Europe and Britain, to Asia and North America. There are now 46 Culinary Discovery Tours available on Oceania Cruises’ four larger ships, Marina, Riviera, Vista, and Allura—which will start cruising mid-year.
. . . Enrichment
The tours are part of a food-focused enrichment programme, which includes The Culinary Center, a hands-on cooking school at sea.
Sydney-based Jason Worth, vp of international sales Oceania Cruises says that with the launch of Allura in Jul, the company will reveal more than 270 new rec ipes which have been created exclusively for The Grand Dining Room, Oceania’s signature restaurant on board.
The Med remains the most popular area for Kiwis to cruise with Oceania, which is a subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line. Guest capacity on Oceania’s soon-to-be eight-ship fleet ranges from 670 to 1250, with two crew to every three passengers on board. Worth has advice to agents wanting to get more Kiwis on Oceania cruises: “Come and join us for ship inspections in your local port—these are the best way to get immersed in the brand.’’
On-line webinars are also a way of getting a good insight into Oceania, he adds.
