Norwegian Cruise Line is taking a moment to highlight to agents a selection of destinations and cruises which it claims cater to the travel styles trending at the moment—coolcations and detour destinations.
First up, for those hoping to see some of Europe’s lesser visited gems, or detour destinations, NCL highlights Trieste. While it is often seen as a launch port for travellers keen to explore nearby Venice, Trieste is a hidden gem says the cruise line. Attractions worth visiting include the fairytale Miramare Castle, and the romantic Piazza Unita d’Italia, as well as gelato spot Gelateria Zampolli. Trieste is included in voyages such as Norwegian Pearl’s 10-day Greek Isles: Greece, Turkey & Croatia itinerary departing 03 and 24 Sep, or the 11-day Greek Isles: Santorini, Mykonos & Croatia sailing, with five departures May-Oct. Another hidden gem to be explored with NCL is Spain’s Alicante, which is often overshadowed by nearby Valencia. The town lies between mountains and sea, with miles of golden beaches, says NCL. Experiences here include exploring old town Barrio de la Santa Cruz, the Cathedral de San Nicolas, and the La Alcudia archaeological sites. There is also NCL’s nine-day Mediterranean: Italy, France & Spain cruise on 14 Oct 2025, ex Rome to Lisbon. For clients hopping aboard the coolcation trend many of NCL’s northern European voyages visit Norwegian capital Oslo, as well as lesser known destinations such as Maloy, Alesund, Bergen, Kristiansand and Stavanger. The cruise line has also added calls into Tromsø this year, northern Norway’s largest city, sitting above the Arctic Circle. Voyages calling in here include the 15-day Europe: Norway, Scotland & Iceland on Norwegian Star ex Oslo on 14 Sep, and the 12-day Northern Europe: Tromso, Alesund & Bergen round-trip ex Southampton on 10 Oct.
