Visit California has compiled a list of its must-visit Los Angeles dining spots, for clients bound for the city of Angels this year.
For those who want to live like a celebrity, restaurants run by Celebrity chefs include Italian eatery Osteria Mozza by Nancy Silverton, European-style restaurant Gwen by Curtis Stone or Top Chef winner Charbel Hayek’s Lebanese eatery Ladyhawk.
. . . Michelin Stars
For Michelin-star dining, Visit California says there are five two-star entries to choose from, including Japanese spot Hayato in the Downtown district, French-inspired Mélisse in Santa Monica and modern American seafood place Providence in Hollywood. One-star options include Encino’s PastaBar, and contemporary French bistro Camphor in the Art’s District.Sushi is another must-do in LA, with it credited as the city which bought sushi to America. Recommended spots include the Michelin-starred Nozawa Bar in Beverly Hills and Morihiro in Atwater Village, as well as more casual spots such as Sushi Gen in Little Tokyo, famed for its sashimi lunch specials and extensive nigiri selection
. . . Burgers & Dogs
It would be remiss not to mention the top burger and hot dog joints. For burgers, Visit California sends Kiwis to The Apple Pan for classic smashburgers, old school spot Cassell’s and gourmet spot Father’s Office; while popular hot dog options include the beachside Hot Dog on a Stick for corn dogs, and Oki-Dog which offers massive hot dogs wrapped in tortillas and packed with chili, cheese and pastrami.
. . . Sweet Options
Rounding out the list with something sweet are the must-visit donut shops in the city. Topping this list is places like Randy’s, DK’s, SK’s, and The Donut Man which have stood the test of time and will not disappoint, while the gluten-free can head to Fonuts and the more daring Holey Grail Donuts, where the donuts are made with taro.
