Intrepid Travel has launched an eight-day cycling adventure (29 May-05 Jun) in partnership with World Bicycle Relief (WBR) to stage what it says is a one-of-a-kind fundraising trip to aid those in need in Kenya.
Participants must fundraise the equivalent of AUD2500 before they go, which is the cost of 10 Buffalo Bicycles delivered to communities through the program.
The sturdy bikes can withstand harsh rural conditions and the WBR had distributed more than 84,000 of them since 2010.

The program also creates employment opportunities for the local communities, with over 300 mechanics trained and 14 Buffalo Bike workshops across the region, says Intrepid.
“Cyclists on this trip will experience first-hand the power that a simple bicycle can have in breaking down the barriers for communities to access basic needs like healthcare and education,” says Intrepid Foundation gm Biheng Zhang.
The trip, limited to 16 riders, will traverse Kenya’s diverse landscape from the Rift Valley to Kisumu and costs from $3835pp. See more details HERE.
WBR also has an annual Buffalo Ride (04 May) to raise funds to mobilise more women and girls. See more HERE.
