Intrepid Travel has launched six new trips in China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia—in a move it has called its most significant expansion yet in Northern and Central Asia.
The new itineraries follow record booking numbers for the region, with the company noting that its numbers from Australia and New Zealand are up 109% year-on-year, driven by increasing demand for off-the-beaten path adventures. Intrepid md Asia and head of global operations Natalie Kidd says Northern and Central Asia has experienced a resurgence in recent years, and it’s exciting to see momentum continue to build. “This region of Asia offers huge diversity, from bustling cities and ancient temples to awe-inspiring landscapes and rugged terrain,” she says. “We’re excited to be expanding our presence in destinations that we believe are shaping the future of travel in Asia.” New tour additions include the 10-day Kyrgyzstan: Trekking the Tien Shan Trails tour, which explores the Tien Shan Mountain range with nights in traditional yurts. Prices start at $3625pp t/s. Taking in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan by train is the 16-day Highlights of Central Asia, from $7470pp, while the ‘challenging’ 14-day Mongolia Expedition: Reindeer Herders takes clients deep into Mongolia, from $5865pp.
Also new is the eight-day Walking the Great Wall of China, exploring the unrenovated section of the wall, with prices from $2025pp. The new trips will depart from Mar; see the full collection HERE.
