Six Kiwi agents got to experience the magic of India in luxury this month on a Uniworld Boutique River Cruises famil.
The itinerary included land and river experiences, and began in India’s famed Golden Triangle where the agents stayed at The Oberoi hotels in New Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. “From the bustling bazaars and rich history of Old and New Delhi to the majestic splendour of the Taj Mahal, the regal Amber Fort, and the opulent City Palace of Jaipur, attendees were immersed in India’s deep cultural tapestry, lead by Uniworld’s expert local guides,” says Uniworld’s New Zealand bdm Alka Thappar who was also on the trip. After flying to Kolkata the group set sail on a three-night river cruise (a hybrid of the regular seven-night cruise) aboard the Ganges Voyager II. The all-suite, five-star floating boutique hotel was purpose-built for the Ganges River and the trade group enjoyed on-board experiences such as sunrise yoga sessions, Indian cooking demonstrations, traditional henna art and local dance performances along the way. A highlight included visits to the intricately carved temples of the tiny town of Kalna, only easily accessible by river. “Travelling in a group gives something that regular FIT travel just can’t offer, which is deep friendships made along the journey. The friendships that were made on this trip will last a lifetime,” says Uniworld Australia & New Zealand md Alice Ager, who led the famil.
. . . Kiwi Plans
Ager also took the opportunity to talk up its Kiwi expansion plans. “We’re thrilled to welcome Alka to the Uniworld family,” she says. “Her deep industry experience and passion for travel make her an incredible asset as we continue to strengthen our footprint across the New Zealand market.”
