Hurtigruten has launched a new culinary-themed itinerary, off the back of the success of its Norway’s Coastal Kitchen program.
The new itinerary combines three nights onboard the Original Coastal Express ex Bergen to Stamsund with two nights at partner farms in Lofoten and Vesterålen, and one night at a distillery by Lyngen Fjord in northern Norway. Experiences will include a tasting session at the women-owned Feddie Ocean Distillery, a fivecourse tasting menu featuring Hurtigruten’s New Culinary Cruises fjord and mountain produce, and a four-course Sámi dinner, as well as the chance to sample Hurtigruten’s unique Bubbles of the Sea sparkling wine, which matured is for twelve months beneath the Arctic Sea. Off the ship highlighted activities will include a farm-to-table dinner and tour at Myklevik Gård, a seaweed lunch at Lofoten Seaweed, and a 17-course tasting menu at Kvitnes Gård, as well as a private tour and tastings at Aurora Spirit Distillery, the world’s northernmost whisky distillery. Hurtigruten culinary director Oistein Nilsen says more and more foodie travellers are discovering Norway, so it was a natural evolution for the cruise line to create new small group itineraries to run just a few times a year, where guests can enjoy truly the best of what Norway has to offer when it comes to food and drinks. There are currently four departures available, 21 Sep, 05 and 19 Oct, and 02 Nov with fares from AUD13,048.
