Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have released details of their combined frequent flyer program, Atmos Rewards.
The merged airlines are claiming a global first for earning options in the ‘supercharged’ program which has been welcomed by loyalty specialist media in the US. From next year points and status points can be earned in one of three ways. Members can select the earning option that works best for them and change their preference once a year. Distance travelled: earn based on how far they go, with one point for every mile flown (for thrifty travellers who take cross-country or international trips, this might be the best choice). Price paid: Earn five points for every USD1 spent when purchasing a flight. For travellers flying in premium cabins this might be the best choice. Segments flown: earn a flat 500 points for each flight segment flown. For flyers who take numerous short-distance flights, such as those between Neighbour Islands in Hawai‘i or within California, this option guarantees a set number of points on every trip.
. . . Advice From HA
HA says that from 01 Oct HawaiianMiles will fully transition into Atmos Rewards. While the HawaiianMiles branding will phase out, customer miles, status, Huaka‘i by Hawaiian benefits and credit card benefits will automatically come along. The airline warns that from 26 Sep customers won’t be able to log in to HawaiianMiles as accounts are migrated.
. . . Thumbs Up
Loyalty specialist site The-Points- Guy says it’s rare for loyalty programs to be fully reinvented ‘and it’s even rarer for most of the changes to appear mostly positive without much devaluation’. However, status thresholds for top-tier levels will increase in 2026, making elite status harder to achieve, the site says. Business Traveler USA says the new program is introducing an ‘incredible loyalty offering’ that is unlike anything seen to date.
