Kiwi celebrity Jason Gunn has a proposal for Kiwi travel agents—one that came to him while he was among those stuck in Wellington dealing with multiple flight cancellations caused by Mother Nature last week.
Speaking on a video clip posted from a hotel room, Gunn advises travel consultants to create a video on-line during mass delays and cancellations which reminds travellers of the stress that flight cancellations can have, and how all of this stress can be avoided simply by booking the flight via them. “When I went down to the reception area this morning at the hotel…I saw a lot of people panicking profusely,” he says. “They just wanted to get home urgently to their families, to their work and they had so many questions; do I ring the airline, do I go on-line, do I shift my current flight, do a book a whole new flight altogether…?”

In the clip Gunn is urging Kiwi travel agents to take advantage of moments like this—and highlights the fact that if they use an agent, they will never have to go through this stress ever again. “Pick up the phone, push record and remind people of how you are here to help,” he advises agents. “I’m telling you this is a massive opportunity.”
