A Dinosaur Safari, an 84-metre-long suspension bridge cal led Sky-End Trekking, the Human Arrow catapult ride and the Junglia Spa which has Japan’s largest infinity public bath, are just some of the attractions at the new Junglia theme park, which opened in Okinawa in Jul.
And Okinawa Tourism says the new park is just one of five reasons for sending your clients to the culturally rich archipelago in southern Japan as an absolute must-visit. Next is the UNESCO-listed Gusuku Sites, which are the ancient castles, royal tombs, and sacred landscapes that tell the island’s story of when the Ryukyu Kingdom prospered for 450 years. In third place is another UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, Yanbaru and Iriomote Island, which offers kayaking and hiking, birds, turtles, reptiles and the critically-endangered Iriomote wildcat. Coming in at number four are the hundreds of white sand beaches around the island, suitable for snorkelling, diving and jet skiing, banana boating and even whale watching. They’re are several beachside resorts to choose from including international chains such as Sherton, Hilton and Hyatt. And at number five is stargazing with Okinawa famous as a place where 84 of the 88 known constellations are visible, which makes the destination an International Dark Sky Park. Because there are fewer jet streams in that area, the stars don’t twinkle but shine bright and still, says Okinawa Tourism.
