Fiji Set New Travel Record In 2024

To say 2024 was a good year for Fiji is quite the understatement, as new data from the nation’s tourism board reveals that it welcomed more than one million visitors in 2024.

This is the highest number ever recorded, says Tourism Fiji, and Kiwi arrivals were up 2.2% to 225,926 (or 23% of international arrivals for the year).

The cruise industry is also playing an increasingly important role for Fiji, bringing 81,854 passengers in 2024. “The strong cruise sector has created immense economic value, supporting local communities and businesses across the nation,” says Tourism Fiji. “With continued collaboration, even greater returns are expected in 2025.” The return of the World Surf League Fiji Pro, the second Spartan Fiji Trifecta, and the
first NRL match held in Fiji are also helping to drive travel.

. . . The Trade

The rising number of travellers to Fiji is good news for the destination, but also the trade, as Rick Felderhoffrom Our Pacific notes. “We’re jointly celebrating a record year with Fiji 2024, recording a 20% increase
in our Fiji sales over the previous year,” he says. “Especially rewarding was our ability to drive sales in specific niche markets such as weddings and romantic travel, special occasion travel, and multi-generational
travel.”

. . . 2025

Looking ahead, Tourism Fiji ceo Brent Hill appears positive this momentum will continue. “With strong partnerships, a growing airline and cruise industry, and exceptional performance in key international markets, we are confident that Fiji’s tourism industry is on a promising path for continued success in the years ahead.”
