Kiwi river cruisers are keen on India, Egypt, and Christmas cruises in 2026, according to one operator, and they’re keen to go solo.
Uniworld’s New Zealand bdm Alka Thappar (pictured R with snake charmer) has flagged Egypt and India as the boutique river cruise operator’s two ‘hotspots’ for next year with both destinations seeing high levels of interest. Cruise and rail combinations are also proving to be in demand, attracting high-value bookings which she says I an opportunity for Kiwi agents. Christmas markets continue to be a favourite, especially for those travelling to see family and friends in UK and Europe, she adds. In fact due to the popularity of the festive cruises Uniworld has added a itinerary for the 2025 season, the eight-day Magical Paris, along the Siene River with private visits to festively decorated chateaus and shopping opportunities at Christmas markets. Solo travel is also trending, with the cruise line’s solo traveller offers the most-visited page on its website last month, adds Thappar.
. . . Bookings
Uniworld also reports strong demand for 2026, bolstered by its current deals including up to 20% off select sailings, and a single supplement of 25%, for sales to 30 Sep. Thappar has also noted a spike in last-minute bookings for 2025 sailings, with up to 40% off for sales to 31 Jul. Agents can also pre-register for its 2027 program now to secure a suite before bookings open for sales next month.
