Brand USA’s Kiwi Feb Trade Events

Brand USA will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, the 100th anniversary of Route 66 as well as highlight the nation’s sporting offering at its Feb trade events in Auckland and Christchurch.

The NTO’s senior director, global trade development APAC Suzy Shepard says New Zealand is an important source market for Brand USA. “We’re excited to provide a platform for our partners to come into market and connect with travel advisors that are hungry to learn more about their destinations and products”.

Next year’s line-up includes some partners attending for the first time, alongside some regular show particpants. “This is the perfect time for travel advisors to be upskilling on their US knowledge with major events and celebrations set to drive interest in travel from the New Zealand market. New Zealand will be heading to the World Cup for the first time since 2010 and there is a lot of excitement to support the national team,” says Brand USA Senior vp global markets & chief trade and product development officer Malcolm Smith. “As we evolve our understanding of what New Zealand travellers are looking for, we know that sport sells and they will travel to support their teams. This was evident when The Warriors played in Las Vegas earlier this year, with visitation skyrocketing.”

Outside of the games, Smith says sports fans will be looking for authentic ways to experience the US, adding ‘this is where we want to support advisors in planning the perfect holiday for their clients’. “Whether it’s the sports-obsessed group of friends looking to catch a local college game or the multigenerational family wanting to make memories at iconic landmarks.”

The format for the events, in AKL 18 Feb and CHC 19 Feb, includes two interview sessions with US partners, inspired by the pre- and post-game press conference. There will also be quick-round interviews offering attending agents insider tips. There will also be a marketplace for networking and a fan zone area with short videos and game-day food.

. . . Pit Stop Challenge

Agents will be able to win prizes in an interactive pit stop challenge, testing their US product knowledge. Prizes up for grabs include air tickets, accommodation and experiences. Registrations open 13 Jan.
