The cantilevered floating platform the Magic Carpet and Infinite Veranda staterooms will be included on Celebrity Cruises sixth ship in the Edge Series, Edge 6 or Xcel 2.
The cruise line has signed a deal with Chantiers de l’Atlantique, one of the world’s largest shipyards. to design the ship which is part of what RCC calls its moderate capacity growth strategy. Xcel 2 will be sister-ship to Celebrity Xcel, which is preparing to take its inaugural sail later this year. Other Edge Series ships include Celebrity Ascent, Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Apex, and Celebrity Edge, the first ship in the series that was delivered in 2018. All up the group’s new-build pipeline includes eight ships, with Star of the Seas and Celebrity Xcel launching this year.
