HX Expeditions has revealed that it is splashing out more than EUR7 million on major refurbishments of MS Fram and MS Spitsbergen, as it looks to enhance both the guest experience and the ships’ operational efficiency.
Gebhard Rainer, ceo of HX Expeditions, says the investments in MS Fram and MS Spitsbergen reflect its commitment to delivering world-class expedition experiences. “From enhanced public spaces to a stronger focus on science and education, these upgrades will elevate every aspect of the journey.”
The 250-guest MS Fram was HX Expeditions’ first purpose-built polar expedition ship, and this refurbishment will follow its full upgrade in 2022.
The work will focus on its guest accommodations, public areas, and crew facilities, with highlights including a new state-of-the-art Science Center, rennovated Arctic superior cabins and refurbished expedition suites and expedition grand suites to offer a twin-bed configuration option.
Polar cabins will be upgraded with new bathrooms. Aune Restaurant will be upgraded to elevate the experience, and the galley will be updated to enhance efficiency. The refurbishment work will take place this Apr in Panama, with a completion date of 26 May.
The 220-guest MS Spitsbergen, meanwhile, will undergo a series of upgrades including the installation of a brand-new Science Center. Polar Cabins will be upgraded with new bathrooms, the Explorer Bar will be refreshed, there will be a new Brygge Bistro offering snacks, bathroom accessibility will be improved, and crew areas and dining facilities will also be expanded.
