Air New Zealand is rolling out new check-in kiosks across New Zealand airports following a successful trial.

The carrier says the kiosks were developed internally to improve speed, reliability and customer experience at check-in, and is expected to improve customer flow in airports.
The new kiosks are being installed across NZ check-in zones, starting with Auckland Domestic Airport, and rolling out to all New Zealand ports by the end of Jul.
The kiosks run on user-friendly technology, including iPads to enable intuitive touchscreen interaction, and built-in cameras will enable passport scanning.
During the kiosk trial, the average check-in time dropped from over two minutes to just 37 seconds, with the fastest domestic traveller checking in in just 18 seconds, says NZ.
The airline also reports check-in for larger groups can be up to 20 times faster. NZ’s chief customer and digital officer Jeremy O’Brien says the initiative reflects the airline’s focus on delivering practical benefits for customers.
“We focus our innovation efforts on better customer outcomes. The purpose of our research and development team is to make travel easy and frictionless. And no one knows our customers better than our frontline team. As a business, we’ve worked together to develop, test and launch the new kiosks.”
The project moved from a business case to rollout in 13 months, covering both kiosk hardware and digital development.
“We’re excited to see these roll out across our domestic network and improve the journey for our customers,” O’Brien says.
