Regional air connectivity has been bolstered with Air Chathams and Air New Zealand’s first interline flight taking off.
The partnership offers same-ticket connections for those travelling to and from Whakatāne and on to the wider NZ domestic network.
NZ chief transformation and alliances officer Mike Williams says both airlines are looking to work together on further interline connectivity in other regions. “By improving connectivity, we are creating smoother journeys and delivering more choice for communities in places we can’t fly to ourselves.”
Associate Transport Minister Hon. James Meager adds that interlining deals have the potential to be a true gamechanger for the industry. “By simplifying travel and improving access, NZ and 3C are supporting opportunities for communities well beyond a single route.”
