With everything going on this month, it’s easy for travellers to be put off heading to the Middle East—but Innovative Travel is working to dispel the belief that the whole region is dangerous.
Speaking to Travel Today, Innovative Travel’s md Robyn Galloway says the broad media references to ‘the Middle East’ often create an inaccurate impression of regional instability. “The expansive region consists of over 18 diverse countries and covers more than nine million square kilometres,” she says. “Unfortunately, generalised media narratives can obscure the reality that many destinations are both safe and welcoming.” Currently, travel continues uninterrupted in countries such as Egypt, Oman, Morocco, and Turkey, all of which are warmly welcoming tourists, she says. While Jordan experienced temporary overnight airspace closures, Galloways says these events had no impact on clients or ground arrangements. Everything is operating normally now, she adds, and this is expected to continue. In fact, all tours operated by Innovative Travel are proceeding as normal across the Middle East and Mediterranean. “Innovative Travel clients are travelling safely and confidently,” adds Galloway.
. . . Watching Closely
Moving forward Innovative Travel will continue to monitor the situation closely, thanks to strong diplomatic relationships with international embassies in both New Zealand and abroad. Galloway also points out Innovative has a Cairo-based director, Elhamy El Zayat, and a network of in-country representatives. “In a region as vast and varied as the Middle East, perspective is essential,” says Galloway. “We remain committed to providing accurate information and exceptional support, so our travellers can explore these incredible destinations with confidence.”
