World Journeys has launched a guide to Luxury Rail Journeys in response to ‘unprecedented’ growth in demand for luxury rail journeys from New Zealand.
This growth can be partly attributed to the growing cruise sector, says World Journeys’ sales director Davina Bennetto “Many have been avid cruisers over the years, and they’re now discovering the same benefits apply to life on the rails as they do to life on the ocean,” Bennetto explains. “You unpack once, settle into a luxurious cabin, wake up somewhere new each day and enjoy excursions to explore the history, landscapes, traditions, and cuisine of fascinating destinations.”
In fact, some may find it better than cruising, as Bennetto points out the number of passengers on a train are fewer. “It’s a more personal experience as you socialise with and get to know the same fellow passengers each evening.”
Bennetto says there is real opportunity for agents to promote luxury rail to their high end cruise clients.
“I’d also encourage agents to think about maximising their sales potential by adding other travel arrangements before and/or after a rail journey. . .why not add a rail journey at the end of a river cruise, for example, or combine a rail journey with a safari elsewhere in Africa.”
. . . The Guide
The guide covers luxury rail options in Asia, Central Asia, Europe, India, Africa and Canada, with Bennetto saying it is designed to give agents the core information they need up front—which trains go where, and in what style.
